BY SUE ROSECRANS, GRACE ATTENDER
Human again. Born again. How wonderful our weekends at Grace have been when we have watched hundreds of ordinary people surrender to our cosmic extraordinary God. “Finally reborn all of us human again.” We were created by the most magnificent, amazing God. And, He has blessed us with one of the most fantastic gifts-free will. We have the right to choose to be born again, to become human again. We are God’s own mirror image. We were created to live and breathe just one step below our awesome God. Unfortunately, life can and often does smash that beautiful reflection. Brokenness, deceit, guilt, shame, distorts who we were created to be. Our God-likeness fades and we become something different. Fractured, torn and ripped apart, we long to be human again.
Why doesn’t God just make it impossible for us to make mistakes, follow the wrong path or crack our fragile image? Sometimes we wish God would just overpower us with His supreme authority. Other times our free will seems to thwart our every move. We do life with our rights lifted high like banners waving in the wind, and entitlement seems to be our fiercest battle cry. Why doesn’t God just fix everything starting with us? From the devotional Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, our God would say, “Teaching you would be simple if I negated your free will or overwhelmed you with My power. However, I love you too much to withdraw the godlike privilege I bestowed on you My image-bearer.” Human again. Born again.
After we surrender to the God who knit us together in our Mother’s womb, we begin our journey of living with our godlike privilege of being His image-bearer. We are reborn. We can live again. “Playin’ again. Holidayin’ again. Stand straight. Walk tall. Dancing again. Twirling again. Whirling again. Waltzing, floating, gliding again. Stepping and Striding as fine as you please.” With each spontaneous baptism, it has been an utter joy to watch and cheer so many on their own journey to becoming human again. Born again.
Finally, if you have never taken that step to surrender to Jesus or decide to make Him your forever Friend, please keep searching for Him. The lost shall be found. He is pursuing you. The fact you are a part of this show is evidence of His quest to return you to your rightful place as His forever child-a child of a King.“I’ll be all that I was on that glorious morn when finally reborn and we’re all human again”
What do you think it means to live for Jesus daily?
Have you ever asked Jesus to be your forever friend? If you have any questions about being a forever friend, then be sure to ask your mom, your dad or someone in the cast.
If you have surrendered your life to Jesus how has that changed you?
Think of a way to thank Jesus for His awesome gift-salvation. You can create a drawing. You can write a note, make up a song or dance.
“Hannah prayed: I’m bursting with God-news! I’m walking on air. I’m laughing at my rivals. I’m dancing my salvation.” 1 Samuel 2:1 (MSG)
“I run for dear life to God, I’ll never live to regret it. Do what you do so well: get me out of this mess and up on my feet. Put your ear to the ground and listen, give me space for salvation. Be a guest room where I can retreat; you said your door was always open! You’re my salvation—my vast, granite fortress.” Psalm 71:1-3 (MSG)
“Jesus is ‘the stone you masons threw out, which is now the cornerstone.’ Salvation comes no other way; no other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only this one.” Acts 4:12 (MSG)
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
“Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known.” Psalm 106:8 (NIV)
“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” Jeremiah 17:14 (NIV)
