Former intern, Emnet Gilbert is now on staff and we are thrilled about it! Emnet, also known as Emni, will be joining the Fishers Campus Team as the Coordinator of Grace Groups (which, for those who don’t know, is a part of our Adult Ministries Team as well!). Emni grew up and lived in her home country Ethiopia up until three years ago (to say we’re happy she’s here is the understatement of the year!). She has three sisters, four nieces and one nephew. Emni came to Grace Church in 2013 after getting married to her husband, Thomas, who is a long time Grace attender. They actually got married in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia and moved to Indiana two months later. After coming to Grace, Emni began volunteering in the Grace worship choir and vocal community. She was also part of Grace’s Leadership Development Program as a Ministry Intern as mentioned above.
Emni’s hobbies include doing the simplest of things as getting a coffee with her husband in a local coffee shop or getting together with friends for a walk or dinner. She also enjoys listening to music and watching movies at home on a slow day.
Like all of God’s creations, Emni is certainly exceptional. When asking her what made her unique, she said, “I think we are all unique in the way that we are made. One unique thing I believe about me is my background. The fact that I lived in a different country up until I was 26, served and spoke in a different language and culture is something that I take as unique opportunity to have in life. I believe it is a challenge as it is also a blessing, to be able to live in two different cultures and to be able to adapt to new situations.” We have seen Emni live this out every day, which is why we are so thrilled to have her on staff.
As a Grace staff member, she is hoping to be challenged and stretched in her ability to engage and serve in the kingdom of God. The fact that everyday life is a learning process for her as she engages with the coworkers and people she serves; Emni is hoping that God will allow her to grow to be like Him. She is eager to learn from all the amazing leaders around her and be able to bring a different perspective to the way we serve here at Grace. Let’s give a great, big welcome to Emni Gilbert! We are so blessed to serve alongside you!
