Healing Through Grace
Trinity Free Clinic is a part of our partner the Health Care Ministry. The Health Care Ministry is a group of Christian physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other clinical and administrative volunteers who provide free health care to the poor and uninsured in our community through three free clinics- Shepherd Community Clinic, Trinity Clinic and the Wheeler Mission Clinic. The Shepherd Community Clinic is located on the near East Side of Indianapolis in Marion County, the Trinity Free Clinic serves the Hamilton County community and the Wheeler Clinic is located downtown at the Wheeler Men’s Residential Center.
BY AUTUMN ZAWADZKI, TRINITY FREE CLINIC STAFF
You may not realize that Grace Church’s generosity has been a long-time supporter of Trinity Free Clinic, located at 146th & Oakridge Road, through the Health Care Ministry. Trinity Free Clinic’s commitment to help Hamilton County’s most vulnerable families by providing free medical and dental care allows you to directly impact the lives of your neighbors in significant ways. Services at the clinic include immediate medical and dental care, pediatrics and immunizations, vision screenings and glasses, women’s health services, physical therapy, and even treatment for asthma, allergies and podiatry.
In addition to many gifts from Grace Church through grants and the Partner Catalog, many church members volunteer as medical professionals and interpreters at the clinic as well. Truly, the relationship between Grace Church and Trinity Free Clinic has been one of full stewardship, sharing time, talent and treasure. Last year alone, your help allowed Trinity Free Clinic to serve over 2,200 patients and provide nearly 6,000 medical and dental visits!
In addition, Grace Church has taken a special interest in a new depression counseling program at Trinity Free Clinic called Hope Abounds. So many of our brothers and sisters in Christ struggle with depression as a result of job loss, divorce and other situations—it is truly a hidden but prevalent sickness in our community. The Grace Church community helped start Hope Abounds and provided contact with local Christian therapists that we have worked with in the past. Through phone calls, emails, and in-person visits, your generosity is helping your neighbors find their way to healthier lifestyles and to make choices that will help them to cope with the challenges of depression to make a brighter future for themselves and their families.
How can you get involved?
Trinity is always looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, including clerical work, interpreters in several languages, medical and dental professionals, pharmacists and social services professionals. To learn more about how you can volunteer, please visit our volunteer page.
You can also get your whole family involved by participating in the upcoming Trinity Free Clinic 5K on Saturday, October 15, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. The annual 5K is a fun walk/run on a flat course through the Village of Mount Carmel neighborhood, and includes a Zumba warm-up, fun family activities like face painting, balloon twisting, and kids’ crafts, refreshments after the race, and lots of prizes! This event will help to support the pediatric and immunization services at the clinic. To learn more or to register, visit TFC5K.org.
Thank you so much for your generosity. You have created a legacy of healing our less fortunate brothers and sisters through the kindness and generosity of Grace Church at Trinity Free Clinic.
