Welcome to LIFT (Loving Individuals and Families Together), the disability ministry here at Grace Church. It is our desire to serve people with disabilities and their families through a one-on-one buddy program, two LIFT self-contained classrooms, respite and a mom’s support group. LIFT is currently only available at our 146th Street campus.
LIFT – Grace Kids
LIFT – Grace Kids (infant – 5th grade) seeks to provide ways to love kids with disabilities through weekend services in the LIFT room or with a one-on-one buddy as well as special events such as respite and family events. To learn more about how to register your child or what to expect, visit the Grace Kids page.
LIFT – Student Ministries
LIFT – Student Ministries (6th – 12th grade) also strives to provide ways to love students with disabilities through special events, the self-contained room, and with the one-on-one buddy program. To learn more about how to register your child or what to expect, visit the Fuse (middle school) or Merge (high school) pages.

Weekend Self-Contained Rooms
Our self-contained classrooms are open during the 4:30 p.m. service on Saturday and the 11:00 a.m. service on Sunday at our 146th Street Campus. Each service includes worship, large group bible teaching using dramas, video elements, games, and other interactive activities. We strive to have a 1:1 student/volunteer ratio. Our self-contained room might be right for your child if they:
Are in a self-contained classroom at school or attend a private ABA program
Do better in a smaller more intentional setting
Are more of a visual/interactive learner
Have difficulty sitting through an hour of bible discussion
Have difficulty with transitions
Buddies are high school or adult volunteers who assist students in the typical age appropriate room or small groups. A buddy might be right for your child if they:
Have an aide at school or mainstream majority of their school day
Need to take frequent breaks
Need extra help with socially appropriate behaviors
Have physical limitations where a buddy would help provide safety
Respite Events & Special Groups
Our respite events are created to allow parents of children in our LIFT ministry, and sometimes siblings, time away to reconnect and spend time together. There are multiple respite events through the ministry year. All respite events require registration and attendance is based on the number of volunteers that serve.
Friday, September 11 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
These are free events for kids and students who attend one of our LIFT rooms on the weekend, or who have a 1:1 buddy. During the event the kids and students will play games, do crafts, go to the gym, watch a movie, and eat a snack or lunch that the parents provide.
These events are for kids and students who attend one of our LIFT rooms on the weekend, or who have a 1:1 buddy as well as their siblings. During the event we play games, do crafts, go to the gym, watch a movie and eat a snack or lunch provided by parents. It's a great opportunity for siblings to spend time together in an environment that is familiar to our LIFT Kids and Students. Check back for an upcoming Break Out event.
Mom's Hope Group
This group provides any mom of a child with a disability a safe, warm and accepting place to share the ups and downs of life where they feel understood and accepted. This group is a mix of support group, bible study, social gatherings and prayer. We meet the third Wednesday of every month at an offsite location. Along with our bible study we also talk about topics such as IEP writing, navigating waivers and Medicaid, and keeping your relationships growing. For more information about our group, please contact the directors of LIFT.
We are always looking for new people to join our team! To serve in LIFT Kids we ask that children be at least 12 years old and in LIFT Students at least 14 years old. If you would like to serve in LIFT, see a complete list of opportunities on our serving page or sign up to serve using the button below.
