Driving on the Wrong Side

Driving on the Wrong Side

You may have seen this man around Grace for the past few weeks. This is Ken and he is from Nairobi Chapel in Kenya! Technically he is from Nakuru, what is also known as the Rift Valley (here's a top 10 list of things to do in case you're ever there). It’s known for great runners and farming; Ken says he prefers the later. We are excited to announce Ken as the newest Lead Pastor for our Sydney Church Plant. Ken and his incredible wife, Wacuka, have been married for nearly 12 years. This dynamic duo met at her dad’s church where he attended and eventually became the youth pastor. They have two wonderful kids, Nate who is 11 and Nyambura who is 5. Ken and Wacuka have worked together in church for many years, her passion is in social care and justice.

Ken has been around the Christian block for a while. He went to seminary school in Kenya and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Bible & Theology from Pan Africa Christian University. Since then, he’s been involved in ministry in a number of ways including:

Ken has several hobbies. He loves watching movies and his favorites include Shawshank Redemption, A Few Good Men, Speed, The Matrix Trilogy, Hero and The Incredibles. He also enjoys documentaries and recommends Planet Earth and Man on Wire. Ken and his family like exploring new places and long distance drives (on the correct side of the road as he will tell you). Some of his favorite places to travel include the open country in Kenya and the Great Ocean Road in Australia.
Ken has a unique “thing” that no other person on staff can say. He hosted a couples talk show on TV for one season. He was approached to host the show and agreed to do one season while they were in transition. Its main focus was on tackling relationship and family issues from a Christian perspective. The show was called, Double Date, and you can find it here.
We know that Ken is going to accomplish so much through our church plant in Sydney. In fact, Ken says, “My goal as a staff member is to learn and soak in the Grace DNA as we step out to plant in Sydney. I also want to make lots of friends, and get a life time membership card at Chick-fil-a!”

Anyone out there want to bless Ken…just get him a Chick-fil-a card! Also, be sure to be praying for Ken and his family as they move from the states to Sydney. Leave him a word of encouragement below to help him as he continues his journey down under.
