Louisiana Relief & The Local Church

Louisiana Relief & The Local Church

Posted on September 12, 2016

The catastrophic flood devastating Louisiana this past August is now considered the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Thousands of people in Louisiana have lost everything they own and need our help. But what do we mean by "our help." We mean the power of local churches and those who fill them. This means YOU, it means GRACE, it means other CHURCHES nearby.

Grace Church and a few other local churches have stepped up to do our part in repairing the damage to these Louisiana communities and feeding those who were impacted by this tragic event. We're working alongside Grace partner, Midwest Food Bank, to fill semis with food and other personal items for those who are in need. In addition, Midwest Food Bank is working directly with Healing Place Church, a Louisiana church who had a campus which was drastically affected by this natural disaster.
We received this email from one of the representatives from Midwest Food Bank...

The semi load from the Indy division is going to provide 800 boxes of food and personal care items to families! Another 800 boxes are ready and will be sent next week. We are praising God for partnerships with caring churches who put their faith into action! Thanks to Grace, College Park, and Northview. Please share this video as it shows the power of the Gospel in the Church today.

So there it is. This is The Church being Plan A. And, you had a part in this. Through your generosity, we were able to take a portion of our tithes to aid in this effort. Through your generosity in donating green bags each week, we were able to stock a semi full of food and care items. Through your generosity, lives will be changed in countless ways. Last weekend, Dave talked about ordinary people filled with extraordinary power and compelling visions having the power to change the world. This is YOU! Thank you for being the hope of the world.
