What Am I Praying For?

What Am I Praying For?

What am I praying for these days?

On the wall of my home office are these words: “Pray Big.”

Do I do that always? No. Sometimes when I am freaked out or feeling depressed, my prayers are puny and rather self-serving. Lately…not gonna lie…I’ve had too many puny prayers. This is a hard season in my life. This life transition has been wearing on me. You know how transitions feel?

Anyway.

Of late I have been mixing in some Pray Big prayers along with my middling ones. They have been for Grace Church and me and others who are in their own seasons. Gratefully God has even provided the text for those big prayers.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:11-12 (NIV)

I have been praying these things for us and them and me…

God, help us wait faithfully as your plans unfold…even if it takes a long time. God, help us to hang on to your commitment to give us a hope and a future. And God, motivate us to call upon you with bigger, bolder prayers. And God, remind me that you are, indeed, listening. But all that said, God, please bring about your plans for prosperity and hope and our future RIGHT NOW. (that’s the Pray Big part). God, do not delay. God, blow us away with your blessing. God, unleash heaven on us!

That’s what I am praying.

I’m glad I am writing this blog today because tomorrow I’ll look at those words on my wall and I will Pray Big. For me. For you. For us.

Wanna join me?
