Join Us Friday, October 1 Renderings: A Beautiful Evening
of Art & Music

This event has been creatively designed for you to experience the arts in several different ways. The evening will begin with a gallery of visual art using various mediums. The artists have created their pieces using poetry as their inspiration.

These old poems have been set to original music by Penny Rodriguez, using a musical form called "art songs". The second half of the evening will be a concert of these songs, performed by Heather Lake Bays, Daniel and Grace Berryman (vocals), and Penny Rodriguez (piano).

Artist Bio Heather Lake Bays

Heather Bays career as a musician started on a warm fall evening in the sanctuary of her church in Clarkson, Michigan at a “Vespers” service. She sat down at the piano and accompanied herself singing an old Imperial’s tune called “Part-Time Servant”.

It was there that she wowed her first crowd and her journey toward using her musical gifts for good began. In her young adult years she dabbled with a career in opera and won accolades and scholarships for her abilities, but continued to feel the pull toward God that she had felt at the early age of 16; with a desire to use her gifts in ministry. Her first recording experience was with Gaither Music while she was studying Music Education at Anderson University. It was there that she was “hooked” by the studio singing bug.

Heather is now a first call studio singer in the Nashville Tennessee and Indianapolis markets where she records voice-overs, jingles, choral demos, film scores, video game scores and works on others’ personal projects. Her voice was featured on the release of the video game “Battlefield V” written and recorded by Hanz Zimmer and Remote Control Productions, and most recently in two exciting projects for Disney: her voice is featured in the new “Harmonious” show for The Epcot Center that premiers tonight at The Epcot Center which is the largest most comprehensive musical project in Disney’s history. Also you’ll hear her voice in the international commercial for Disney’s 50th anniversary also releasing today, October 1st!  Heather’s versatility, professionalism and experience have given her the opportunity to work and record with many significant artists and companies over the years. Including but not limited to: Hans Zimmer and his company Remote Control Productions, Disney, EA Games, The Collingsworth Family, Travis Cottrell, Sight and Sound Theaters, Sandi Patty,  Bill Gaither and The Gaither Vocal Band, and tenor Lawrence Brownlee just to name a few. She has been a session guest at some of the most prestigious studios in the nation including Ocean Way, The Sound Kitchen, and the infamous Blackbird Studios.  She is a vocalist of the prestigious TenTwoSix vocal contracting group in Nasvhille, Tennessee.

As well as session singing Heather also uses her degree in Music Education being in high demand as a  judge and clinician for show choirs around the country working with some of the most premiere  programs both here in Indiana and throughout the country. She also teaches Master classes at universities on how to make a living and survive as a musician and artist using work ethic and certain musical disciplines.

Heather is an experienced and seasoned performer and has sung the national anthem for  The Indianapolis Colts, The Indianapolis Pacers,  and the Indiana Fever and has performed as a featured artist with many symphonies around the country including The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and the Anderson Symphony Orchestra.

In November of 2019, she had the unique privilege of recording Penny Rodriguez’s album Velvet Shoes, a collection of art songs written by Penny for voice and piano.  She is very excited to be here this evening performing some of those and some new ones as well.  She has two full length albums available tonight:  Heather Bays Christmas and Let Beautiful Be.  She has two grown daughters and lives in Carmel Indiana with her new husband Dave Watts and her 15 year old cocker spaniel, Mimi.
