Devotions Dominion, Power & The Ladder of Influence By Ashley Snowden On Sunday, Barry talked about Dominion and Power, the human struggle with it since the fall in the Garden of Eden, and how God gave us the propensity to rule over creation, which is why we are innately drawn to dominion. The problem is, the brokenness that we experience from sin has distorted our version of power. Christ has given us the ultimate example of how to rule of over creation, and it’s not how we see mainstream leaders exhibiting power. Worldy power, often rife with coercion, injustice, and violence, leads to chaos. True influence comes from the bottom. Through our humility and willingness to serve others. Barry gave us a tool that can help us remember how to leaders can effectively rule based on Christ’s example: You can use this tool to determine which leaders to follow, to evaluate the influence in your own life, and to consider your own journey to power. Is it The Way of Christ, or the way of chaos? “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. 25 Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.” - Jesus speaking in John 12:24-25 Share Related Content Devotions, Pain, Prayer Modern Day Lament By Tyler Bender Devotions Jesus Is Waiting Devotions Choosing Grace By Michelle Williams Devotions Devotional: Your Relationship With God By Emily O'Connor Devotions Devotional: Getting to Know the Holy Spirit By Emily O'Connor Devotions, Forgiveness Psalm 55: The Pain of Betrayal By Cathy Schaefer Devotions Devotional: Abide By Emily O'Connor Devotions Psalm 23: Seeking Still Waters By Hannah Stapleton Devotions, Gratitude Psalm 22: When God Feels Distant in my Pain By Rosie Wittleder Devotions, Gratitude Psalm 18: Gratitude for God's Help By Cathy Schaefer
